Palo Alto, Santa Clara County
A one-car garage at 367 Addison Avenue in Palo Alto is marked as the birthplace of Silicon Valley. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard built their first product there in 1938, an audio oscillator, and Walt Disney Studios was among the early customers. Stanford Research Park, opened in 1951 on university land, later drew dozens of technology firms to the city.
